Admissions Criteria
At DIS, we warmly welcome students of all backgrounds and strive to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Our student groupings are aligned with age to reflect the minimum age requirements for each grade, but we understand that each child’s abilities and needs are unique. Therefore, our team thoughtfully tailors academic and therapy groups to best support each individual’s growth and success.
All students should have a basic understanding of English and will complete an internal assessment and/or provide recent academic reports to ensure they are placed in the appropriate group. We look forward to partnering with you in your child’s educational journey. We will soon be offering Grades 10-12, providing a comprehensive full-grade-level programme to support your child’s continued academic growth.

Once you have ensured that your child meets the admissions criteria, you will go through the 3-step process:
- Attend a Parent Interview with the Head of School to explain your child’s needs and to learn about the school.
- Tour the school.
- Schedule a 2-day trial session for your child. Trial days are two consecutive days between Tuesday and Thursday (e.g., Tuesday and Wednesday) with timings as follows: First-day schedule: 9 am to 12 noon; second-day schedule: 8:30am to 2:30 pm.
- Before the trial day, the administration team will advise on the necessary materials to bring.
- Parents are encouraged to provide relevant reports/documents during the school visit.
- During the trial, students may participate in multiple classes to determine the best fit.
- The trial class may not necessarily be the confirmed class, but efforts will be made to match the child with the most suitable class.
- Efforts will be made to ensure that multiple teachers and therapists from at least two modalities observe the child.
- When required, teachers provide observation reports summarising the two-day trial period and can be sent via email within 5 working days.
- Parents complete the registration documents given and enrol the child in the school.
- Assessments with an Educational Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Therapist are scheduled before or during the first week of school.
- Discussions during the assessment include recommendations for therapy (if needed) and teaching strategies to ensure a tailored educational experience.
