Learning Support
Learning Support and Educational Therapy at DIS
At DIS, Learning Support is more than one-to-one tutoring. It is a tailored, evidence-based educational therapy service, delivered on-site weekly by qualified Dynamics Therapy Group educational therapists who collaborate closely with teachers.
How It Works
- Students are selected based on a thorough assessment of needs and strengths.
- Each term, selected students receive 30-minute weekly one-to-one educational therapy sessions embedded directly into their school day.
- Educational therapists work alongside class teachers to coordinate goals, monitor progress, and integrate strategies throughout the school environment.
Why Our Approach Is Different
Most international schools rely on external tutors or provide general support through Learning Support Units offering pull-out lessons or classroom adjustments. These typically focus on completing assignments or reinforcing classroom content rather than targeting the underlying learning processes that impact long-term academic growth.
By contrast, our educational therapists:
- Target executive functioning, reading comprehension, study strategies, and cognitive processing skills.
- Develop customised intervention plans tailored to each learner’s profile and functional needs.
- Collaborate continuously with classroom teachers to embed support strategies across all curriculum areas.
Our Impact on Students
With this model, students improve not only their academic skills but also their confidence, independence, and self-regulation, leading to sustainable progress that extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life. Our in-school delivery ensures that strategies are practised and reinforced where they matter most.
