Special Education Teacher
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct small group instruction in an inclusive classroom setting for students with learning difficulties, adapting lessons to foster engagement and accessibility.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with learning difficulties in literacy, numeracy, and core subjects up to Grade 10.
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to cater to a wide range of learning profiles, using evidence-based and AI-supported strategies where appropriate.
- Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring goals are specific, measurable, and student centred.
- Deliver high-quality, inclusive instruction that meets both academic and developmental needs, empowering students to grow socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
- Track student progress regularly and adjust teaching approaches as needed, maintaining accurate IEP documentation and developmental records.
- Collaborate with allied professionals including speech and occupational therapists, psychologists, and classroom aides for holistic student support.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, fostering trust and shared responsibility in the learning journey.
- Promote a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment that encourages independence and celebrates every child’s unique strength.
We are seeking someone who embodies our core values and brings:
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience in a school setting with students with special educational needs.
- Those with a strong track record in special education may be considered for leadership roles such as Senior or Lead SPED Teacher.
- Familiarity with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and/or British Curriculum is preferred.
- Proficiency in classroom and behaviour management strategies, tailored to support neurodiverse learners.
- A proactive, “I Can Do It” attitude, coupled with patience, creativity, and a deep belief in every child’s potential.
- Strong understanding of IEP development, learning accommodations, and differentiated instruction.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage families effectively.
- Openness to leveraging AI-integrated learning tools and assistive technologies to enhance inclusive education and drive innovative teaching practices.
